Trinidad and Tobago is a sovereign country in the Caribbean, in the wider region of the Americas. Treaties and official documents call it Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Government sits in Port of Spain.

The population is about 1.4 million, placing it 157th of 250 by population — between Estonia above it and Cyprus below. Within the Caribbean alone it is the 7th largest of 28 and the 6th most populous.

The land area is 5,130 km², which ranks it 176th of the 250 countries and territories in this dataset — just behind Brunei and just ahead of French Polynesia. That makes it roughly half the size of Cyprus.

Trinidad and Tobago has no land border with any country, which changes what "nearby" means.
