Jersey is a territory in Northern Europe, and it is not a sovereign state in its own right. Treaties and official documents call it Bailiwick of Jersey. Its seat of government is Saint Helier.

The population is about 103,000, placing it 199th of 249 by population — between Tonga above it and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines below. Among the 16 entries in Northern Europe it ranks 15th by area and 11th by population.
